Kay Ann "Katie" Proctor passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026. She was 86 years old.
Katie was born to Harold and Helen Proctor on December 26, 1938 in Chillicothe, OH. She was the 2nd of 5 children:
Philip, Katie, Gloria, Betsy and Chris.
Katie was a 1956 graduate of Warren Central High School.
After spending some time at IU, Katie made her way to St. Louis to work for McDonnell Aircraft where they were building the Mercury spacecraft. She met Jack Kennedy and the first astronauts.
She heard Chicago calling and moved to an apartment on Lakeshore Drive. She went to work for The Playboy Corporation where she was the executive assistant to the VP of entertainment. She then married her husband Eddie. After 5 years, they parted ways and Katie embarked on a fabulous trip around the world. She hit all of the continents except South America. She had so many wonderful adventures and eventually made her way back to the US and settled in San Francisco. She landed a job with Levi Strauss which also allowed her to travel with her then fiancée, an English Sea Captain who had settled in San Francisco.
She left the sea captain and headed for Los Angeles, changed careers to real estate sales/appraising and was licensed in 3 states. She eventually settled in Indianapolis where she lived out the remainder of her life.
Katie acquired so many wonderful friends along the way, learned to ski, picked up a couple of pets and fell in love many times.
Katie is survived by her brother Chris (Kathy) and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, a few great-great nieces and nephews, her beloved cats, Pinky and Tiger and many, many friends all over the world.
Katie was preceded in death by her father, Harold, step father Robert, mother Helen, brother Philip and sisters Gloria and Betsy.
Her big infectious smile, laugh and ability to tell a story will be terribly missed by her family and friends. We love you Katie.
