Kathryn Lee Wooldridge

January 13, 1943 — September 3, 2025

Sheridan, IN

Kathryn “Kathy” Lee Wooldridge, age 82, of Sheridan, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Born on January 13, 1943, in Morristown, Indiana, Kathy was the beloved daughter of the late Marion and Roberta Steffey.

A proud graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1961, Kathy went on to build a remarkable career as a Personnel Specialist with the Department of Defense, where she served with dedication and integrity at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service. Her commitment to excellence and community extended far beyond her professional life.

For many years, Kathy poured her heart into the Hoosier Capital Girl Scouts, beginning as a troop leader and guiding countless young women through the joys of camping, friendship, and leadership. Her dedication eventually led her to serve on the organization’s board, where her wisdom and warmth continued to inspire.

A gifted artisan, Kathy had a deep and lifelong passion for quilting. Every stitch was a reflection of her meticulous care and creative spirit. Her quilts were more than fabric and thread—they were heirlooms, labors of love, and gifts from the heart. She generously shared her talents, mentoring and teaching new quilters in both formal groups like the Quilter’s Guild of Indianapolis, North Stars, and countless informal sew circles. Her passion also led her to support the Quilts for Valor initiative, honoring veterans and service members—a cause especially dear to her heart, inspired by her sons’ military service.

Kathy’s love extended to all creatures, great and small. Her kindness was never reserved for just people—she had a deep, joyful affection for animals and was known to say, “I never met a dog I didn’t love.”

At the center of Kathy’s life was her family. She shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Stephen, a nationally known artist and metal sculptor, whom she met when she was just 15 years old. Together, they built a family grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering support.

Kathy was the cherished mother of David (Miriam) Wooldridge, Jennifer (Gregg) Homola, Stephen (Jodi) Wooldridge. She was a devoted and playful grandmother to Devon Wooldridge, Jacqueline Venets, Blake Wooldridge, and Hollyn Wooldridge, and a proud great-grandmother of eight beautiful children. She was also a treasured sister, family member, and a loyal friend whose radiant smile and kind words uplifted all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, David Wooldridge, son-in-law, Gregg Homola, and sisters, Tanya VanOsdol and Leisa Jones.
