Kathleen P. 'Katie' Garland

Kathleen Garland (Katie) 65, of Carmel passed away on October 5, 2015. Kathleen was known as someone who would go above and beyond in caring for her family, friends and neighbors - always there to assist during difficult times or preparing a meal. Kathleen was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in New Jersey before moving to Carmel, IN with her husband, Richard and children, Shannon (Jeff) Knobel and Chris (Ann) Garland. Also surviving are Kathleen's brothers, John Devitt and Kevin (Judy) Devitt and Eileen Kelley. Kathleen "Kates", as she was known by her grandchildren, will be dearly missed by, Nicholas (12), Michael (9), William (8), Stella (6), Lucy (4) and Maura (1). Kathleen was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Kathleen (nee Greenan) Devitt, her brothers, Patrick, Thomas and Michael. Viewing will be held on Wednesday at 1:00pm, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00pm at Holy Spirit at Geist, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, IN 46037. The Interment will follow in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Kathleen's memory to the Lupus Foundation of America or the National Kidney Foundation.
