Kathleen M. 'Katie' Newman

Kathleen M. "Katie" Newman 90, of Greenfield, passed away on August 25, 2015. She was born in Wheatland, Indiana on May 17, 1925. Katie graduated from Shelburn High School. On July 7, 1946, she married Herbert A. Newman, and they enjoyed 59 years together before his death in 2005. Katie was active in many organizations including Raper Commandry Knights Templar, Women in Construction, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, The Social Order of the Beauceant and The Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Irvington United Methodist Church. She held many positions with various companies including Roberts Dairy and Hooks Drugs, and was devoted to raising her four children. The family wishes to thank Seasons Hospice and Springhurst Health Campus for their dedicated care. Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert A. Newman and son, Richard A. Newman. She is survived by her daughters. Bonnie S. Kletecka (Stanley, deceased); Kathy A. Newman-Smith (Rod); son David R. Newman (Tricia); two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30th, from 12 to 2 PM at Flanner and Buchanan - Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, with service at 2 PM.
