Katherine Anne Cantrell

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we celebrate the life of Katherine Anne Cantrell, who passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on December 15, 1942, to Jackson Oliver and Caroline Anne Smith, Katherine was a beacon of love and strength, whose life was a testament to dedication and family values.

Katherine grew up in a home filled with warmth and laughter alongside her beloved sister, Joan Gillespie. Her early years were marked by the nurturing guidance of her parents, who instilled in her the principles of compassion, resilience, and kindness—qualities that defined her entire life.

Katherine married her first love, Jerry Krise, with whom she shared a profound and unwavering bond until his passing in 1980. Together, they welcomed their cherished daughter, Stacy Specht, and son, Charles Krise. Katherine's life was touched by both immeasurable joy and profound loss, as she was predeceased by her parents, her sister Joan, her beloved Jerry, her dear daughter Stacy, and her second husband, GW Cantrell, with his passing in 2022. 

Katherine's life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, family, and community. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family to her son Charles Krise and stepdaughter, Jana Jackson, and their spouses, her grandchildren Wayne Specht, Carolanne Specht, Bri Sue Henderson, and Chase Krise. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Katherine reveled in the joys of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into her life until her final days. 

Katherine was a woman of extraordinary grace and resilience, admired for her steadfast love of family. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, where love and laughter were ever-present. Her spirit was one of quiet strength, and she will be remembered for her unwavering support and encouragement for those she loved. 

A memorial service to honor Katherine's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 1003, located at 12863 Old Meridian, Carmel, Indiana 46032. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the legacy of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of all who knew her.
