Katherine Abney

Katherine Abney, 88, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away May 30, 2021. She was born in Burkesville, Kentucky to the late Grady B. and Laura Fletcher on December 7, 1932.

She was the youngest of eight children born and raised in Burkesville. She met and married the love of her life, Elzie “Carson” Abney and after the birth of their first son, they moved to Indianapolis for greater opportunity for their family. She was a dedicated mother to her three sons, Steve, Larry, and DeWayne.

She is preceded in death by brothers Milton, Dalton, Dallas and Edmund, sisters Eulene Philpott, Evelyn Murphy and Lenora Dew and her granddaughter Rene` Abney. Katherine is survived by her three sons, Steve Abney(Crystal), Larry Abney(Kathy) and Dewayne Abney(Kim). She is survived by 8 grandchildren Carrie Vandivier, Stephen Abney, Stacy Sharp, Brian Abney, Anthony Abney, Tabitha Abney-Smith, Samantha Abney and Selena Abney and 8 great-grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 1:00PM-2:30PM with graveside services to follow at West Ridge Park Cemetery at 3PM.
