Karyn Moore

Karyn Moore, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and treasured friend, passed away on August 7, 2026. She was born on June 8, 1949, to the late Carl and Miriam Clouser.

Karyn was a proud graduate of Indiana University, earning her degree in Psychology in 1971. That same year, she married Michael Moore, and in 1973 they welcomed their son, Nathan. Following graduation, Karyn worked for the Indiana State Welfare Department for six years before beginning a long and successful career with AT&T. She dedicated 25 years to the company, where she was known not only for her commitment and professionalism, but also for the lasting friendships she formed along the way.

Family was at the heart of Karyn’s life and her greatest source of joy. She was a devoted mother to Nathan and a deeply loving grandmother to Jakob Moore and Gail Leal. She took tremendous pride in her grandchildren and delighted in cheering them on in everything they did. She was especially happy in the stands supporting Jakob, where her enthusiastic encouragement was an unmistakable reflection of her love and pride. Her lifelong love of sports was a passion she happily shared with family and friends.

Karyn also treasured the time she spent with her sisters and her many dear friends. Together they created a lifetime of memories through travel, adventures, dancing, yoga, music, and simply enjoying one another’s company. Music held a particularly special place in Karyn’s heart. It brought her joy, comfort, and a wonderful way to connect with others. She generously shared her musical talents as a member of several choirs over the years, where both her voice and her spirit touched those around her.

Those fortunate enough to know Karyn will remember her infectious zest for life. She was curious and intelligent, a lifelong learner and a wonderful listener. Warm, outgoing, and genuinely interested in others, Karyn had a special ability to connect with people of all ages and make them feel valued, heard, and understood. Her sharp intellect, wonderful sense of fun, and natural warmth made her someone people simply enjoyed being around.

Karyn lived with compassion, strength, and determination. She loved deeply, gave generously of herself, and brought energy and joy to the lives of those around her. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the love, laughter, music, memories, and friendships she created throughout her life will remain with all who loved her.

Karyn is survived by her son, Nathan Moore (life partner Joyce Rattay); her longtime life partner, Felix Lopez; her grandchildren, Jakob Moore and Gail Leal; her sisters, Kathleen Lappas (John), Suzanne Clouser (Lew Morris), Mimi Sednek, and Elizabeth Mazerolle (Kirk); and many beloved nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind Felix’s family Jeanette Lopez, Lila Augello (Brian), Natalie Lopez, Julia Augello and Antonio Augello who became an important part of her extended family and shared many years of love, laughter, and memories with her.

Karyn was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Miriam Clouser, and her sister, Nancy Hahn (Stan). She now joins them in peace, leaving behind a life rich in family, friendship, music, laughter, and love.
