Dr. Karl Jon Raynor, 54, of Indianapolis died May 21, 2012. Karl was born April 6, 1958 in Alden, NY to Frank and Irma Raynor. While attending Alden High School Karl was an All-American in baseball, basketball, and football.
He recieved his bachelor's degree in biology from Hamilton College and his doctorate degree in Podiatric Surgery from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. His surgical residency was at Highlands Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
Karl along with his wife Dr. Sandra Raynor began practicing podiatric medicine in Indianapolis in 1986, founding Podiatry Associates of Indiana. Karl was a well-respected physician throughout the Indianapolis community. His passion for his profession and his patients helped grow one of largest podiatric practices in the country.
Karl was a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the Indiana Podiatric Medical Association.
He was an avid and passionate road cyclist. Along with Dr. David Wilkes he was a founding member of Team Treachery & Deceit cycling club. In addition, he was a strong supporter of bicycling advocacy and bicycle racing, including sponsoring of both the Nebo Ridge amateur cycling team and the collegiate national championship Marian College cycling team.
He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Raynor; children, Brian, Alyson and Stephanie Raynor; mother, Irma Lewis; brothers, Jeffery and Christopher Raynor; sisters Suzanne Murray, Patricia Markel; Nephews Matthew Johnson and Steven Raynor; In-Laws, Robert and Margaret Rafner. He is preceded in death by his father Frank Raynor.
He cherished the time spent with his family, treasured moments with friends, and never hesitated to offer a helping hand. Whether sporting jeans, slacks, lycra, or scrubs, Karl always sported an infectious smile that was seen and felt by everyone around him. Above all, Karl was a devoted husband and father.
Visitation will begin at 12 pm Saturday May 26, 2012 at Zionsville Christian Church (120 North 9th Street Zionsville, IN 46077) with a memorial service beginning at 2 pm.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
