Karen Starks, 76 died Wednesday, February 18th at her Indianapolis, IN home. Karen was born on September 15, 1949, in Evansville, Indiana, the only child of George and Emma Pauline Dieterle, both deceased.
Karen earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Indiana University, Bloomington. She was a very much respected educator with Indianapolis Public School beginning as an elementary school teacher and then working most of her years as a media specialist in the Indianapolis Schools libraries. She was a respected professional earning the love of students and developing friendships that have survived through the years.
Karen was a lifelong learner. She loved nature and traveling and learning about the greater world. She always strived to share that love with her two sons, Rory and Dylan. As a media specialist she aggressively pursued verified factual information always rejecting the easily available false information of the digital world and worked to encourage others to pursue a world of truth.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest Cliff Johnson and her two sons Rory Evan Starks of Mountain View, California and Dylan Brent Starks of Chicago, Illinois.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, March 7 from 12:00 till 2:00 at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd W Dr. Indianapolis. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later announced date.
