She was born January 25, 1950 in Indianapolis to the late Joseph and Julia (Murphy) Rambaud.
Karen graduated with her diploma from Thomas Carr Howe High School in Indianapolis, class of 1968.
Karen was a stay at home Mother however she was always active and a woman of action. She took classes to reupholster furniture, took on household sewing and for a time helped run the Christian Park Little League where her sons played. She entered the workforce and was a manager at various restaurants. Later she transitioned to managing patient files for a doctors group. In the spirit of St Francis she engaged in gardening and horticulture including becoming a Master Gardener, enjoyed local fauna such as squirrels and will be remembered for her love of dogs especially Shetland Sheepdogs of which she owned several over the years. She embraced her Irish heritage, researching and documenting the extensive family tree from those earlier generations. This included trips to Ireland, and once even taking her beloved young grandchildren and great-niece.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (wife Linda), and Scott (wife Lawanna); Grandchildren Nicholas, Kira and Trisha; and siblings Kathy Rambaud and Michael Rambaud.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years Larry Thomas just two weeks ago and her parents.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, March 25 from 5-8 PM at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Final Prayers will begin at 7:30 PM.
