With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we share the passing of Karen Lynn Childers (Dougherty), 67, Indianapolis, IN. Karen passed away on October 19, 2026, at her home surrounded by love and family after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. 

Karen was the daughter of Robert and Carol Dougherty, and a lifelong resident of Indianapolis. She was a graduate of Howe High School. Karen spent her career as a Pharmacy Technician at Community East, then at Kindred LTACH. 

Karen was an incredible human being. Her kindness and smile followed her everywhere she went. She was an amazing baker and loved to travel with her late husband, Randy. Karen would tell you her most important roles were mom to her three boys, and Mimi to her six grandchildren.

She is survived by her children David Walke (Diane), Kyle Walke (Ashley), and Ryan Walke (Alyssa); siblings Johnny Dougherty (Jackie) and Lori Soots; grandchildren: Lucas, Luci, Henry, Ellie, Lincoln, and Harrison Walke.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy; and her parents Robert and Carol Dougherty.

Visitation will be held on October 26, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46239 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.

The Rite of Committal/Internment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery, located at 10612 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229.
