Justin Larry Cook

May 22, 1975 - June 24, 2026.

Justin passed away peacefully in his sleep. He had Stage 4 kidney cancer.

Justin expressed his unique style and creativity in the clothing and jewelry he designed and wore. This drew attention from people wherever he went. People would strike up conversations because of his flamboyant clothing design and his approachable personality. He enjoyed meeting new people who would often request pictures with him. He was happy to do it. Justin had many offers to sell his designs, but he would only trade or gift the items.

Justin had a wide variety of interests. For 44 years he had a passion for skateboarding. He carried the skateboard with him everywhere. He built his own ramps and designed and made his own skateboards. He was an avid reader, collected vintage books and records, and enjoyed old movies. He was a big fan of old-time country artists such as Hank Williams. For the past 5 years, Pilates was his chosen way to stay in shape. His understanding of current events was exceptional. Justin had a strong Christian faith. He was kind and compassionate and enjoyed all ages and kinds of people. He was close to his grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. But his greatest joy was little Ava, his four year old cousin. Playing games, going roller skating, skateboarding and reading books to her brought him many laughs and lots of love. Ava adored Justin.

Justin loved John’s Pass in Maderia Beach, FL and the annual family vacations there. He also truly enjoyed all southern California beaches, especially Huntington beach, where he lived for several years. He was thrilled to be moving back to Huntington Beach in July. His Huntington Beach friends told him his style was “too big” for Indiana. And they were right about that.

He attended Park Tudor Junior High and High School and graduated from Carmel High School in 1994. He attended IUPUI, Indiana State University, and Fullerton and Golden West Colleges in Southern California.

Justin will be greatly missed by many people including his mother, Leeann Walker Cook Murray (Joe Reek), father, Stephen A. Cook (Lisa), sister, Gwendalyn Walker Cook (David Jones), Aunts and Uncles; Karen Walker Reynolds, Doug Walker (Kristen), Kicha Cook, Danny Cook (Kim), Debra Cook (Tom Hickey), Carri Cook, and 24 first cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Douglas L. and Joanna S. Walker, Carl and Margie Cook; uncles, Larry Cook, Tommy Cook; sister, Ali Cook; and brother, Clay Cook.

Justin lived his life to the fullest.
