June Clark

June 9, 1919 — January 6, 2013

June Clark Affectionately known as "June-Bug" for most of her 93 years, June Clark passed away on January 6, 2013, surrounded by family. A 38-year resident of Carmel, Indiana, June spent the last years of her life enjoying exceptional care in Fort Collins, Colorado. Born on June 9, 1919 in Virginia, Minnesota to Esther (née Norman) and Edward Kreitzer, June was the first of their four children: Lyle, Mary Lou, and Donald. In 1943, she married James Clark with whom she enjoyed a remarkable marriage for 60 years. Together, they raised seven children. June and Jim lived in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Illinois, before finally settling in Carmel, creating a home she loved dearly. Jim Clark passed away in 2003. A woman equipped with boundless energy, June loved to dance, hated to miss a social gathering, and cherished visits with children as far away as Ireland and Hong Kong, and as close as Michigan, Wyoming, Tennessee and Colorado. With a passion for handcrafts, June filled her home – and the homes of those she loved – with knick knacks, quilts, homemade wreaths, and handmade textiles – as well as the spoils of signature shopping sprees she would take twice a year to New York, outlasting her daughters with her interest and appreciation for the latest fashions. June was also a prodigious baker, a trait that earned no end of praise from co-workers, family, friends, and anyone with a taste for freshly baked cakes and cookies. June served as the receptionist at Walker Research, a research and consulting firm in Indianapolis. Throughout a nearly 30-year career, June was legendary for making guests feel at home, greeting visitors warmly, and gently mothering the entire staff. As the voice of Walker Research, June was known to gently admonish colleagues who failed to share personal details about guests expected to walk through the main entrance, depriving them of the first-name welcome that became her trademark. Despite such infractions, June never denied co-workers access to the well-stocked candy jar that was a fixture of the reception area. Of all her experiences, June's favorite was the ongoing journey through life with her family. She is survived by her many loving children and their families: Robert Clark, Donna and Dan Kramer, Sandi and Steve Wood, Richard and Bonnie Clark, Marcia and Richard Kligler, Roger and Dana Clark, and Jill Clark and Steve McNally; grandchildren: Nathan, Emily, Bruce, Tara, Nick, Brian, Ryan, Patrick, Katie, Sean, Jill, and Haley; six great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 14, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center at 325 East Carmel Drive. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, January 15 at 10:30 am at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carmel, where June was a devoted parishioner. Burial will follow at our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Donations in June's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240 or at www.alz.org/indiana. June-Bug and her wonderful spirit will be loved and missed by all who knew her. You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story. Sincerely, -Your friends at Flanner and Buchanan
