June Akard

June L. Carter Akard 87, Carmel, passed away September 23, 2011, surrounded by family. June was born on June 3, 1924, in Indianapolis. She attended Shortridge High School, Butler University, and Indiana University before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Grace Carter; brother, Ralph; husband Clyde Sr.; and beautiful daughter, Jill. She is survived by her beloved children, Sandie Wilkerson, Clyde Jr., Emily, Ralph (Molly), and Janet; grandchildren, Scott and Brett Wilkerson, Ross, Amy (Steve) Kempf, Marcy, Bridget, Rachel (Andres) Bueker; great-grandchild, Ethan Bueker; and special cousin, Milly Willoughby. The family would like to thank all the dedicated doctors, nurses, and caregivers for their care and support. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Washington Park East. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her name to Broadway United Methodist Church and St. Vincent Hospice. We will miss Mom's smile, gentle nature, and ability to remember the names of friends and strangers. We love and miss you, Mom.
