Julia Ann Dunkman

81 years old, of Wanamaker passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Wife of James who passed away in April, and also predeceased by parents Paul and Barnetta Springer, sister Jeanette Shepherd, and infant daughter, Deborah. She is survived by her son Dennis, daughter Diane, and her yorkie Shorty.

Julia had a very active life supporting her community and developing her artistic talents. She was a tax assessor in the 60s, first female school bus driver in Franklin Township, assisted teaching special education at Wanamaker Elementary in the 70s, managed Craft Showcase and had her own art by Hoosiers consignment shop, Just For You in Wanamaker in the 80s and 90s. She then became active in the Franklin Township Chamber of Commerce including organizing Old Settlers' Day street fair for 17 years. She served as President for 3 terms, executive director, and spearheaded The Economic Development Committee working with mayors and governors and seeing her hopes for the township realized.

She will be missed by family including her sister, brother and sister-in-law, aunt, 5 cousins, 9 nieces and nephews, 38 grand and great nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends may call from 4:00pm-8:00pm Wednesday, December 16, 2015 with funeral service Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 3:00pm in Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East 10722 E. Washington Street Indianapolis. Following the service at approximately 4:30pm there will be a Celebration of Life for Julia at this location.
