Obituary for Judi Woods
On June 3, 2026, the world lost a remarkable woman when Judi Woods, of Indianapolis, passed away.
Judi was known for her joyful spirit, creative talents, unwavering faith, confidence and persistence. She was a strong woman, embracing life while encouraging and nurturing others with kindness and loyalty. Her presence lifted those around her, and her ability to inspire, support, and love without hesitation made her a steady source of strength for family and friends alike.
She filled her days with joy and expressed her artistic and design skill in paintings, decorating, and the occasional sculpture. Her creativity was more than a pastime — it was a reflection of how she saw the world, always searching for beauty, color, and meaning.
Judi loved to host events, whether it was dinner parties, family celebrations, or Bible studies in her home. She was generous with her time, talent, and treasury, often counseling and witnessing to others who were coping with their struggles. She was devoted to her faith, her family, and her friends, living out her beliefs with sincerity and compassion.
Surviving are her husband, Bob, and daughters Shannon Shirven (Rick) and Kari Alting (Erik). Judi was a devoted grandmother to eight grandchildren (Madison (Blake), Delaney (Ethan), Dylan (Alyssa), Macy, Derik, Lincoln, Urijah, Harrison) and a proud great‑grandmother to three great‑grandchildren (Malachi, Stetson and Maverick), each of whom brought her immense joy.
Preceding her in death was her son, Darren Frye, grandson, Gunnar Shirven, her parents, Travis Eugene Wilson and Wilma Josephine Spurgeon, as well as her brother, Ronald Eugene Wilson. Ron’s wife, Luana, along with their two sons and four grandchildren, live in Tennessee and remain an important part of Judi’s extended family.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on June 22, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Horizon Christian Fellowship, 7702 Indian Lake Road, Indianapolis. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and honor the beautiful life she lived.
