Judith Verline Ferguson, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away on September 3rd, 2021. She was born to the late William Hunter and Mattie Etta (Selmon) Gunn on December 14th, 1926.
She grew in Ripley, Mississippi and worked on the farm and attended elementary school.
Judith lived for a brief time in Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Indianapolis. She continued her education here in Indiana and worked various jobs such as a domestic worker, waitress, and in a factory.
She eventually went on to pursue a career in nursing. She was employed by the state of Indiana at Central State Hospital in 1956 under psychiatric nursing. Judith worked with special needs children, as well as adults and seniors. She later became a supervisor of the Bahr Treatment Center, a facility at Central State where she worked for 32 years before retiring.
Judith is survived by a sister and a host of nieces and nephews. There are dozens of people who called her mom, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all.
Services will be entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East.
