Judith “Judy” Nadine (Underwood) Howard, 88, of Indianapolis, passed peacefully into her Heavenly home on July 7, 2025. Born on March 6, 1937, to Harry and Hazel Underwood, Judy’s life was grounded in hard work, quiet determination, and meaningful moments spent with family.
She met her husband, Lincoln Howard, in 1952, and they married two years later, sharing a lasting partnership. Judy spent many years working in various roles, retiring after 33 dedicated years at Roche. Her work ethic was steady, and she brought the same thoughtfulness to her personal life.
Family time held a special place in Judy’s routine—whether it was preparing meals for visits, hosting birthdays, or simply having grandkids fall asleep on the couch after a busy afternoon. Summers brought vacations filled with small adventures and shared stories, memories that now serve as touchstones for those who remember her best.
Judy also enjoyed bowling and quilting, finding comfort in familiar routines and creative expression. She approached hobbies with ease, allowing space for joy without needing the spotlight.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lincoln, her children Kimberly and Timothy, her parents, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Belinda Freeman (George); grandchildren Jason (Adrian) Howard, Joshua (Jessie) Howard, Jessica (David) Youngs, Scot (April) Freeman, Todd (Mary) Freeman, Rodney (Jennifer) Freeman, Beth (Nelson) Ciodyk, and Bruce (Kimberly) Cannon; along with ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Judy’s life on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. A brief graveside gathering will follow immediately after the service.

What we're doing to help:
To ease congestion, we’ve expanded the 10th Street entrance, which will be open during normal business hours for all guests. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this evolving situation. We’ll continue to monitor traffic flow and make adjustments as needed to ensure the best possible experience for our visitors.
