Judy (Welch) Henderson
87, of Indianapolis, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014
Judy was born on April 5, 1927 to the late Lawrence and Lenore Dean Welch, she attended Purdue and
Butler Universities. She is survived by her
Sister, Margaret Joan Welch of Rhode Island and brother, John C. Welch of
Eugene, Oregon. Judy was the mother of seven,
Thomas, Connie Henderson (Dave Marquart), Mike (Denise), Anne Gautier
(Chris), Alexander, Jeanne Englert (Marty), and
Mary McClain (Paul). Judy was proceeded in death by her husband, Richard L. Henderson and three siblings,
Sheila Welch Robertson, Michael Welch, and Dr. Patricia Welch. She was
formerly the director of the Huntingburg Housing Authority, worked for the
State of Indiana Social Service Agency, and most recently, the Parish of
St Thomas Aquinas in Indianapolis. A member of the League of Women Voters,
the St Vincent de Paul Society, and many other volunteer organizations,
Judy was was a lifelong advocate of social justice. She will be missed by
her children; nine grandchildren and great-grandson, as well as
many nieces; nephews, St Thomas Parishioners; sister-in-law Rosemary
O'Connor Welch; brother and sister-in-law L. Mark and Sue Henderson and
the wonderful staff of St Paul's Hermitage of Beech Grove.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior.
