Judith Ann Bosron Scheerer Brown, 81, passed away April 18, 2023. She was born April 20, 1941, in Oakwood, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank and Ruth (Meschkat) Bosron. She was married to George W. Scheerer for 20 years prior to marrying Philip Metzger Brown on July 2, 1994. Phil preceded her in passing on May 24, 2016.
Judy received her bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University, and later her master’s degree in education from Manchester College. She enjoyed a rewarding career as an elementary art teacher. She lived in North Manchester, IN for 20 years with George, during that time, she was a teacher in North Manchester, IN and Rochester, IN until she moved to Fishers, IN and taught at College Wood Elementary School in Carmel, where she served her students and the community until her retirement. Judy loved to travel the United States and abroad, visiting Mexico and Central America numerous times as she loved the Mayan culture. Whereever she went, she would bring back the local art mediums to share with her students for projects. She enjoyed using her artistic talents in her garden and home, and she had a strong fondness for her beloved cats.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Phillips; two step-daughters, Katrinka (Henry) Toebes and Amanda (Thomas) O’Daniel; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Bunting, Aaron Bunting, Amanda Meyer, Lillian Frazer, Faith Frazer, Annalise O’Daniel, Vincent Philip Gmerek, and Walter Toebes; great grandson, Gabriel Bunting, and her devoted brother and sister-in-law, William (Sheila) Bosron. She was preceded in passing by her youngest daughter, Barbara Frazer.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road. A Sharing of Memories will begin at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be directed to the IU Health Neuroscience Center Art Therapy Program that provides psychological and emotional support through art therapy for people with Parkinson’s disease, ALS, traumatic brain injury, Huntington’s disease, dementia and more at www.iuhealthfoundation.org/donate.
