Juanita M. Ostendorf-Maurer

With sadness, Juanita Marie Ostendorf-Maurer (nee Monken), 95, Indianapolis, passed on October 7, 2022.
She was born August 2, 1927, to Clarence and Marie Monken in St. Louis, Missouri.
Juanita married Leonard J Ostendorf in St Louis in 1946. Together they had 9 children. Juanita and Leonard were married until 1991 when he passed.
In 2004, Juanita married Charles Maurer. Juanita and Charlie where married until 2020, when he passed.
Juanita is survived by 7 children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Leonard and her husband Charlie. She was also preceded in death by daughter Mary Anne Santoro and son Richard George Ostendorf.
Juanita spent many active years with St Lawrence Catholic church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Juanita was involved in several volunteer organizations including Riley Children’s Hospital, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, Boy Scouts, 4H-Homemakers and The Guardian Home. She and Charlie would also go and assist school children catch up on reading skills. Juanita was recognized for making “Puppy Pillows” for the children of some of these organizations.
Juanita found beauty in several flower types that she grew in the yard at home such as peonies, iris (she called flags), lilac and Rose of Sharon as a few. She also loved a large weeping willow that grew in the back yard. Further she loved a catalpa and a fern, which struggled in the cold winters of our youth, while they flourished in her later years.
Juanita will be missed by many.
