Joyce Mary Long

Joyce Mary (Schoner) Long, age 91 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Friday morning, June 20, 2025.

Joyce was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1933 in Plymouth, Indiana, a daughter of Harold A. and Madelene (Kelley) Schoner.  She is preceded in death by her parents.

Joyce was the oldest of five children.  Brother Stephen (Gloria) Schoner precedes her in death.  

She is survived by sisters Jane (husband Roger) Kreighbaum, Judith (husband John) Sullivan -- both of Indianapolis, and sister Janet (husband Michael) Faulstich of Plymouth, Indiana.

Joyce married Ralph E. Long in 1954.  Ralph precedes her in death.

Joyce lived in many different states but spent the most of her years in Minocqua, Wisconsin.  Throughout her professional career she worked for Coldwell Banker.

Outside of work Joyce enjoyed the winter wonderland that Wisconsin was, as she was an avid snowmobiler.  During the summer months in Wisconsin she greatly enjoyed the lakes and boating.  She was very creative and loved crafts, as well as being a dog lover.

She was Catholic in faith and most recently a parishioner at St. Christopher Catholic Church.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. 

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Christopher Catholic Church, located at 5301 W. 16th Street, Speedway, Indiana 46224. Father Paul Shikany will officiate.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the mass in the vestibule at St. Christophe Catholic Church. 

She will be placed to rest at Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis.
