Joyce (Grahn) Hoff, 86, of Indianapolis passed away on June 27, 2022. She was born on March 31, 1936, in South Bend, Indiana to the late Cortland and Geraldine Carrington.
Joyce “Ging” as she was affectionately known, married at 16 and had her first child at 18. Four more children were to follow in the next 16 years. Her lifelong passion was to be a Mom. And was she ever! She had 5 kids, Gary Grahn Jr, Gregg Grahn (Cecilia), Julee Wilkes, Jodi Verebay (Lenny), Jeff Grahn (Diane), 9 grandkids and 13 great grandkids. She also had 3 step kids, Debbie (Bill) Lyons, Vickie (Scot) Templeton, Darrell (Debbie) Hoff; 10 step grandkids and 20 step great grandkids. She is also survived by her sister, Diane Rucker and her brother, Cort (Carol) Carrington.
She was involved in everything from the PTA, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Quarter midgets, dance classes… The list could go on and on.
She babysat in her home for multitudes of children in the Franklin Township area. Her kindness and compassion extended into the animal kingdom. It was a blessing to be brought up amongst the menagerie of critters. Another passion of hers was any type of card playing with family and friends. A standing date with her sister Diane every Friday was a never miss occasion.
Enter Jerry – The true love of her life. The “King of Hearts”. They have been married for over 26 years. They built a beautiful life and log cabin together in Cloverdale, Indiana and lived there for many years. The family has many wonderful memories together with them there.
It’s going to be sad now that we have lost our Matriarch but we know that she would want us to celebrate a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers if you would like to make a donation to the Johnson County Animal Shelter, We are sure Ging would appreciate it.
