Joy Lavon (Joe) Berry passed away February 5, 2016 at the Bowling Green Medical Center. Joe was born January 12, 1939 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to William H and Etta Ellen (Stanley) Berry. He was a member of the Shelbyville High School Class of 1956 in Shelbyville, IN and was an US Air Force Veteran, a Past Master of Mystic Circle Masonic Lodge #685 F & A.M. in Lawrence, Indiana, and retired from Indiana Bell (Ameritech) in 1992. He was also a dedicated member of the Burkesville First Christian Church. Joe loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and boater. He was also an avid RC model airplane enthusiast. His parents and a brother, Stanley H. Berry, preceded Joe in death.

He married Cathy (Dudley) Berry on September 11,1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana and she survives. He was Father to three children, James “Jim” Berry and his wife Terri; Tammy Berry Shepherd; Sharlyn Berry Woods and her husband Lewis III; Grandfather to Amber Berry, Amanda Berry, Dustin Berry, Samantha Shepherd, Zachary Shepherd, Michaela Shepherd, Amanda Woods Thompson and her husband Matthew, and Lewis Woods IV. He is also Great Grandfather to six. His sister, Donna James also survives.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday February 11, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, February 12, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan with burial in Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, IN, with military rites.
