Josip (Joe) Beleta, 71, McCordsville, passed away August 11, 2014. He was born in Vinkovci, Croatia, the son of the late Stjepan and Marija (Adamic) Beleta.
Joe retired from Roche Diagnostics in 1994 as a Manager of Machine Design. Throughout his life, he pursued a variety of interests, including travel, home design/construction, tennis, and translation work for various local sporting events. Upon retirement, he devoted his time to gardening, fishing, beekeeping and other environmentally oriented activities/volunteerism.
Joe is survived by his life partner of 27 years, Ann Gerritsen; son, Stephan Oberueck; sister, Olga (Alfred) Ballmann; and a nephew, Darek (Janelle) Mihocka. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mirko (Olga) Beleta.
A Celebration of Life will be 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Shining Light Garden Foundation, Environmental Learning Center (ELC), or Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute.
