Josephine Morrow

Josephine (Mandrell) Morrow passed away peacefully on September 11, 2011 at the age of 82. She was born August 3, 1929 in rural Westmoreland, Tennessee to the late Jesse and Mary Mandrell. Her father passed away when she was 2 years old. While still young, they move to the Scottsville Ky area where they lived until moving to Indianapolis in 1943. She worked at a donut shop on Monument Circle and later at the RCA factory. She married Lewis F. Morrow on May 1st 1953 and moved to Lawrence in 1954 where they lived until 2010. They have celebrated 58 years of marriage. She continued to work at RCA until 1957 when her son Michael was born. She was very active as a room mother, den mother in Cub Scouts, and enjoyed cooking, canning gardening and sewing. She could not attend a pitch-in without bringing her famous macaroni and cheese! She was a member of Lawrence Christian Church where she volunteered in VBS and the church office. She later transferred to then 38th Street Christian (which is now Post Road Christian Church) in 1977. Her life was rich in giving of herself as a true servant leader, always thinking of others first with the compassion of Jesus and the patience of Job. She will be dearly missed by those left here on earth but is now at peace in the arms of the Lord. She is survived by her husband Lewis Morrow, son Michael (Jeannette) Morrow, grandaughters Shannon (Christian) Brooks, Rebecca (Jeff) Soto, Jessica Bleich and Erin Bleich and great-grandaughter Layla Raber, sister-in-law Jeanetta Mandrell and neice Cynthia (David) Weintraut. She was proceeded in death by her mother, father, brother Joseph Mandrell and numerous half and step brothers and sisters. Friends may call Thursday September 15th from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park Cemetary East 10800 E Washington St. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00PM at the funderal home. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer Association 50 E. 91st. Suit 100 Indpls, IN 46240.
