Josephine Marie Lile

Josephine Marie (Flinta) Lile, age 87 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Friday morning, September 26, 2025.

Josephine was born on April 7, 1938 in Indianapolis, a daughter of Constantine Daniel and Mary (Potcoava) Flinta who immigrated to the United States from Romania.

Josephine married to Donald E. Lile Sr. on March 30, 1958. Donald preceded her in death on February 21, 2024.

Jo is survived by three children: Teresa (husband Neal) Bates of Spencer, Donald Eugene Lile Jr. of Indianapolis and Michael Steven (wife Dana) Lile of Indianapolis.

Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Josephine grew up in Indianapolis on the Westside. She attended Ben Davis High School and graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in the class of 1957.

She was a mother and homemaker the majority of her life, but still worked in various roles over the years for short times including being a bus driver, she worked at a bank and also was a skilled seamstress who owned her own curtain shop.

She greatly enjoyed working outside in her yard and garden.  She also loved quilting and was a member of the quilter's guild of Indianapolis.

Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

A funeral service for Josephine will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park Funeral Center, located at 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Pastor John Dunaway will officiate.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM.

Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery where Josephine will be laid to rest with her husband Donald E. Lile Sr.
