Joseph Walter Rutkowski, 72, of Westfield passed away April 4, 2023. He was born December 5, 1950, in South Bend, the son of the late Harry and Blanche (Plonski) Rutkowski. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Wawrzyniak, on August 21, 1971.
Joe proudly and honorably served in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed a career in IT, being an independent contractor. His one-of-a-kind personality and contagious laugh will be forever cherished by all those who met him. He was a member of the American Legion. He an avid reader, enjoyed bowling, going to the casino, and Euchre nights with his family. Above all else he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who will be forever missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Rutkowski; two daughters, Cheri (Boyd) Jones and Melissa (Benjamin) Lambdin; four grandchildren, Ashlyn, Victoria, Nolan, and Grace; brother, Ralph Rutkowski; and a sister, Betty Mackowski. He was preceded in passing by a brother, Bill Rutkowski; a sister, Connie Rutkowski; and a sister -in-law, Ann Rutkowski.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road. A Celebration of Life will follow from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
