Joseph Vincent McDonough
83, of Carmel, IN passed away on November 15, 2013.
He was born in Republic, PA on December 22, 1929 to the late Patrick and Margaret McDonough.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ruthann Simons McDonough; son Edward P. McDonough of Indianapolis; son Mark J. McDonough (Lori); and his three adoring grandchildren Katelyn, Riley and Griffin McDonough, all of Carmel. He was preceded in death by his brother Jack McDonough.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Duquesne University and worked for Eli Lilly & Co. for over 25 years in Manpower Planning until his retirement in 1986 to pursue what his family lovingly referred to as a second career on the golf course.
Ruthann was the love of his life and together, their greatest joy was raising their two sons and enjoying their three grandchildren. Joe would tell you his greatest privilege in life came in recent years as he cared for Ruthann, who is battling dementia.
He was a man of integrity and wisdom with a kind and generous heart. His was a life of service. He served his country as an Army veteran of the Korean War. He served his family as a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. Above all, he served God with his deep, unwavering faith.
