Joseph R. Cunningham

Joseph R. Cunningham , Sr. was born on June 24, 1929 to Clarence and Dovey Mae Cunningham. He was 83 years old and passed away Friday, December 7th, after several months of battling cancer. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War from 1951-1952 and was an Ex-POW. He was an insurance agent for 26 years for Commonwealth Life Insurance Co. retiring in 1991. He was the Post Commander of the Ex-POW Hoosier Chapter. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lela (Newton) Cunningham, children, Terry Cunningham, Tracy (Diana) Cunningham, Tami (Scott) Steele, Bruce Cunningham, daughter-in-law, Pat Cunningham, grandchildren, Jason Casey, Ben and Sean Cunnningham, Michael Adkins, Michelle Fecher, Bret Cunningham, Dawn Peck, Ashley and Landon Steele, Dreama, Kirk, Sierra, Lexi, Mikkel Cunningham, great grandchildren, Kolby, Korbin, Maya, Kadin Casey, Shelbie Fecher, Ryne Adkins, sister, Phyllis (James) Perry, and brother, Richard Shaw. He is preceded in death by his son, Joe Cunningham, Jr., and brothers, Kenneth Shaw and Charles Nell. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday December 11, 2012 at 2PM at Flanner and Buchanan-Memorial Park 9350 E. Washington Street Indianapolis, IN, with visitation there from 12-2PM.
