Joseph John Costa
62, of Indianapolis, died on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Joseph was born on April 5, 1951 in Danville, PA to Joseph and Dorothy (Andrejeski) Costa. Joseph graduated from Mt. Carmel Area High School in 1969. He received his Associate's Degree from Harrisburg Area Community College and attended Bloomsburg University in PA. Joseph married the love of his life, Gayle Patricia Waldron on October 15, 1977 in Torrington, CT. He began his career in the container industry at Stone Container in Torrington, CT and held various management positions with a few companies during his 30 year career. In addition to Stone Container, he also worked for Inland Container, Central Corrugated and Flutes, Inc.
Joe was very athletic and over the years, enjoyed playing baseball, golf, tennis and fishing. He was also an excellent pool player. Joe was a diehard fan of all the Philadelphia professional sports teams, but also rooted for the Colts. Joe was very personable and had a terrific sense of humor. He told so many stories from his youth that it was hard to remember them all. He took great price in his family. Joe was a wonderful husband, son, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Gayle Patricia (Waldron) Costa; their children Jason Costa and Kristen (Matthew) Sayman; his mother, Dorothy (Andrejeski) Costa; his grandson, Eli Sayman. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Costa and sister, Peggy Costa.
Calling will be held on Friday December 27, 2013 in Flan ner and Buchanan - Speedway from 9 a.m., with prayers at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 6000 West 34th Street Indianapolis, IN 46224 at 11 a.m.
