Joseph Edward Shimko

Joseph Edward Shimko, 75, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on December 23, 2021 with his wife, sons and 2 granddaughters at his side. He was born on April 16, 1946 to the Late Joseph G. and Ann M. Beres Shimko in Gary, IN.

After completing high school in Gary, he went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University with a focus on architectural technology. Joe was a hardworking man who dedicated many years to working for US Steel Plant acting as a foreman of the spares department.  The simplest pleasures brought happiness to Joe.  He loved painting, working in his garden and tinkering around the house.  His greatest joy was spending time with his loving granddaughters.

He is preceded in passing by his parents Joseph G. Shimko and Ann M. Shimko(Beres) and his grandparents Joseph Shimko, Anna Shimko(Hauser), Jonos Beres and Anna Beres(Loukahs).

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn A. Cretton Shimko; sons, Craig (Jen) and Kyle Shimko; doting granddaughters, Karolina and Klara.  He is also survived by his siblings Judith Shimko Stalbaum Vance of Wheatfield, Indiana, Mark Shimko of Arizona and Linda Philips of Arizona along with many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park.
