Joseph B. Williams, 72, of Westfield, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012. Joseph was born July 7, 1940 in Laramie, WY to the late Joseph F. and Margaret Blair Williams. He received his Bachelors of Science from the University of Wyoming and his Ph.D in organic chemistry from the University of Florida. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Joe was a senior research chemist, retiring from LONZA, Inc.
Joe was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the American Chemical Society, and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), where he was a long time member of SPE's Council, serving as Councilor and Proxy from Lehigh Valley until he moved to Indiana and served as Councilor for Central Indiana. Joe was also a Fellow of the Society and an Honored Service Member.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, September 13 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Friends and family are invited to gather from 4:00 -8:00 pm Wednesday, September 12 at Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel.
Joe is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Laura (husband, Jim) Ernst and Judith (husband, Vinny Herman) Williams; 7 grandchildren, Sally, Maggie, Charlie, Danny, and Tommy Ernst, and Will and Lena Herman; brother, John Williams; and uncle, Ed Williams.
Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Relief Services or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Family Room.
