On April 2, 2022, Josefina “Finy” Lumanlan passed away peacefully. She was 95 years old.
She was born in Bacolor town, in the province of Pampanga, the Philippines, the eldest of seven children. Known as a great cook, she took great pride in her culinary skills. People joke that you may have her recipe book but that doesn’t mean it will taste the same as hers. A devoted mother, she doted over her children. She taught them social grace and etiquette and imbued in them the importance of moral values. Finy worked for the United States Air Force at Clark Air Base in the Philippines as a clerk. She stayed at that job until she immigrated to the United States with her husband and children in 1970. After her arrival in the US, Finy worked in the insurance industry until her retirement. While she remained active in her retirement, the loss of her husband in 2008 was a huge blow. She is survived by her son Lester and her daughters Lucinda and Lorinda.Thursday, April 7, 2022
