Jordan Winslow

January 3, 2003 — May 23, 2025

Carmel, IN

We are devastated to announce the passing of Jordan Marie Winslow, 1/3/03-5/23/25.

Beautiful, funny, kind, smart and adventure loving, Jordan was simply a joy. Quick to laugh and make a joke, she had amazing inner strength and resilience and served as a role model to so many. A gifted artist, Jordan had been selected to display in galleries and was in art school at the time of her diagnosis- majoring in and with a love of art history and the Italian Renaissance. She had a brilliant mind- she self-published a book in middle school and tested into Mensa Society in high school, her IQ placing her in the upper 2% of the population. She was a talented athlete who won numerous state gymnastics competitions. She loved art, animals and dragons passionately. She bonded with two domestic ducks from the lake, holding and feeding them regularly. She adored her two crazy labs, Moby and Mikki. She was, truly, an exceptional person- inside and out, and deeply loved by those fortunate enough to spend time with her.

After suffering dizziness and hand numbness, the diagnosis of terminal brain cancer was given to her 4/24. Faced with this, she bravely battled to enjoy her remaining days. She was already a seasoned traveler at the time of her diagnosis, with numerous trips to Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colorado and many of our nation’s National Parks. She had already skied, surfed, swam with stingrays and dolphins, rode horses in the ocean and mountains, hiked in many countries, was learning three languages and loved life. After her diagnosis, between treatments and hospitalizations, she traveled to Germany, Italy (three times), Paris, Baltimore (for a Medieval Times fix, being crowned the Queen of Love and Beauty), Colorado, and Atlanta- where she did a meet and greet with Alice Cooper and Lindsey Stirling. She was able to indulge her love of Italian Renaissance in Florence Italy- with three fabulous trips! And was able to view the piece that spoke to her the most- St. George by Donatello -despite enormous hardships. She had a huge 22nd birthday party in January with friends and family, with many people traveling from out of state to show the difference her light has made for them. It featured sonic ducks and a 3-D dragon cake. And she stayed strong throughout, despite numerous rounds of radiation, chemo and hospitalizations. She leaves behind her own unique legacy of art, music, adventure, athleticism, contemplative intellectual questions and fart jokes. She did not want to be mourned but celebrated and her family, friends and loved ones will be challenged to live up to incredible legacy without feeling the emptiness of a room without her infectious laughter.

Her family survives to honor and remember her amazing life journey- her mother, Catherine Winslow, MD, her father MG Timothy Winslow (ret), her loving brother Joshua and his girlfriend Chloe Bronner, and of course her loving dogs, Moby and Mikki, and ducks- Beavis and Butthead. She requested no funeral service to be held, she wanted to people to remember her with joy not sadness. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday 31 May at our home (12469 Heatherstone Pl. Carmel 46033) at 2pm. If available to come, please bring happy memories and great stories to share!

In lieu of flowers please send donations in Jordan’s name to Donate to Cincinnati Children's or Ascension St. Vincent Foundation and/or equally important…

Write your senator and representative and ask that they propose a significant increase in funding for brain cancer research, to find a cure. The beast that killed Jordan has a name- DIPG. With an average life expectancy of 11 months and no significant advances in treatment since the advent of radiotherapy, it remains one of the most common killers of kids and young adults and is a death sentence. Brain tumors to include DIPG and other gliomas are the most common cause of death for kids for any solid tumor. Yet only $500 million is spent annually in research (as opposed to over $5 BILLION for HIV/AIDS). Let’s push for a cure- so amazing young people like Jordan have options to live, and she will live on through them. No parent should have to write their child’s obituary.
