Jonell Russell Smith

Jonell Russell Smith, 75, Indianapolis passed away March 16, 2015. She was born December 7, 1939 in Morgantown, KY to Guy and Olivia (Woodcock) Russell. Jonell was retired from RCA after 27 years. She had attended New Beginnings Church in Morgantown and Heavenly Life Apostolic Tabernacle, Indianapolis. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and being with her children and grandchildren Jonell is survived by her husband, Orba "Shorty" Johnson; daughters, Deborah Blair, Cathy (Kevin) Burgess and Melissa (Donnie) Brennan; sons, Ronnie J. (Tina) Phelps, adopted son, Jackie Smith, step-sons, Larry and Jim Portish; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild with 1 on the way and a sister, Brenda (Harold) Scalf. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Smith; sons, Bob and Roger Smith; Son-in-law, Richard Blair; sister, Sue Caldwell and brothers, BoBo and Herbie Russell. Services will be 1 pm Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd. Visitation will be 2 until 8 pm Friday, March 20, 2015 at the funeral home.
