Jon Ray Potter, 75, of Zionsville, passed away January 13, 2015. He was born in Indianapolis the son of Youree and Hazel (Duff) Potter and graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in 1957. He attended Butler University and Indiana Business College. He was the Executive Director of the Championship Drivers Association and the International Council of Motorsports Science. He owned Big League Promotions and Productions and Musicworks. He was a Marion County Deputy Sheriff and a Kentucky Colonel. He was very active in Little League Baseball having coached a team to the Indiana Little League World Series in the 70's. He was an accomplished musician and had the band, Big Jon Potter and The Uptown Cowboys. He made several guest appearances on The Grand Ole Opry and opened for Jim Ed Brown and Bill Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen (Sachs) Potter; his son Scott Potter; daughters, Lori Potter Lambert and Wendy Potter Cluck, and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville, 105 W. Pine St. Zionsville, IN 46077. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service time at 1:00 PM.
