John Warren Peek, 97, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016. He was born on September 3, 1918 in Indianapolis to the late Warren E. and Stella E. Peek. John was a 1936 graduate of George Washington High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served in the 76th Division in General Patton’s 3rd Army ETO. John worked as a Tool and Gauge Inspector for Allison Transmission for 45 years, retiring in 1982. He was a Past Master and 50 year member of the North Park Masonic Lodge 6046. John was also a Past Patron of the North Park OES, member of the Scottish Rite and current member of the Speedway Masonic Lodge. He was a proud veteran and enjoyed an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in the fall of 2014. John loved to collect model trains and was an avid reader and historian. He is survived by his daughters, Sherry (Rich) Sneberger, Katherine (Ron) Styczen, Diana Kelley; grandchildren, Michael Sneberger, Erin Jarrett, Nathan Kelley, Joan Kelley-Richards; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Billie, Laney, Liam and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Esther Mundy; wife, Georgia Peek; grandson, Ronnie Styczen; son-in-law, Mike Kelley. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 4-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10am, also at the funeral home. Entombment with military honors will be immediately following in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
