John W. Adams

John W. Adams, 78, of Carmel, passed away on June 18, 2021.  He was born January 19, 1943, in Portsmouth, VA, the son of the late Wallace Frances Adams and Betty Mae (Brose) McDirmit.  On August 22, 1965, he married Nancy Gause.

John received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from GMI Engineering and Management Institution (now Kettering University).  He had an interesting career with General Motors as the Manager of Delco Remy manufacturing operations in Paris, France. He retired as President and CEO of GM Ovonic.  He served on the Board of Directors for the Carmel Symphony Orchestra and the City of Carmel Plan Commission.  John was an active member of Carmel United Methodist Church, where he volunteered with the food pantry and their ESL program.  He took pride in working with immigrants to help their transition to the United States and assist them with attaining citizenship.  He was an avid fisherman, woodworker and photographer.

John is survived by the love of his life and wife of 56 years Nancy; his three daughters Laura Adams (Mike) Daily, Julia Adams (Steve) Kruzel, and Linda Adams (Brad) Stephen; his sister, Jane Adams; and his grandchildren Danielle Daily, Emily Daily, Alexander Kruzel, Luke Kruzel, David Kruzel, Madeline Stephen and Anna Stephen.

Visitation will be held on Friday June 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Carmel United Methodist Church, 621 South Rangeline Road followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the ministries at Carmel United Methodist Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Carmel.
