John Tryon

October 19, 1946 — May 17, 2012

John E. Tryon, LTC, USA (ret), 65, passed away Thursday, May 17 at home surrounded by his loved ones. John was a Vietnam veteran with 23 years of service in the United States Army. During his tenure, John served as Inspector General at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis and Adjutant General at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Following his military career, he held positions with the State of Indiana, including Chief of Staff for the Indiana Board of Animal Health and Director of Human Resources for the Department of Natural Resources. Services will be held at Holy Spirit at Geist Parish,10350 Glaser Way, Fishers. Calling will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, and the Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24 followed by a luncheon at the church. In lieu of flowers, family suggests gifts in memory of Ret. Lt. Col. John Tryon, '69, be made to the New Mexico State University (NMSU) Foundation, Inc. P.O. Box 3590 Las Cruces, New Mexico 88003. Check memo for correspondence should state: Sponsorship of cadets to attend Army ROTC Alumni Chapter Recognition Event. John is survived by wife, Anne M. Tryon; son, Brian S. Tryon; daughter, Katherine T. Greene; brothers, Frank, James, William, Richard, Michael, Stephen, and sister, Mary Ann.
