John R. Szabo

John R. Szabo, 65 of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014. He was born to John and Barbara Szabo on August 30, 1948. John immigrated to the United States in 1952 and obtained citizenship. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in South Bend and Purdue University of West Lafayette. John worked as a Civil Engineer for the Indiana Department of Transportation for 22 years, retiring in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Susan Szabo of Indianapolis; daughters Candice Blowe and Lindsay (Shawn Carswell) Szabo; grandsons, Aaron Blowe, Johnathon Blowe and Blake Carswell, all of Florida. Visitation will be held at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 4 until 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday morning at 10am at St. Michael Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Washington Park North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
