John R. Harlan, 83, Carmel, passed away September 7, 2016. He was born November 11, 1932, in Indianapolis, the son of the late Mabel Harlan.
John proudly served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He retired from Alachua County Public Schools as the school bus mechanics manager. Prior to that he worked for several years for Carmel-Clay Schools. He enjoyed playing golf and dancing.
He is survived by two children, Robin Luehrmann and Richard Harlan; five grandchildren, Christina Carder, Kasey Leonard, Miriam Luehrmann, Evan Harlan, and Randy Walker; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by a daughter, Cynthia Harlan Harwood and his grandparents who raised him, Fred and Hallie Harlan.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2016, at Flanner and Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park, 4180 Westfield Road. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
