John Quincy Zeiher

John Quincy Zeiher, 86, of Franklin, formerly of Speedway, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. He was born on October 21, 1928 In Speedway, IN to Frank V. and Estella M. (Wildes) Zeiher. John was a graduate of Speedway High School and a 1974 graduate of Central Indiana College. He served our country in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Staff Sgt. (E6) after 27 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying a special Deep Sea fishing trip to Hawaii where he caught a Blue Marlin. John was also an avid bowler, playing in many area leagues. He was a member of the American Legion: Eli Lily Post, Murat Shrine, Scottish Rite, Speedway Masonic Lodge, Speedway Eastern Star, Jobs Daughters and Sahara Grotto, where he was a member of the Mini Patrol. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Barbara Jean (Mason) Zeiher; children, Katrina Zeiher, Garland Zeiher, Darzell Street; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. John is also survived by a sister, Bertha McKininster. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, John F. Zeiher and Gregory A. Zeiher; grandson, Donald Zeiher; and 7 siblings. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 4-8pm at Flanner and Buchanan � Speedway. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11am, also at the funeral home. Entombment with Military Honors will take place in Washington Park North Cemetery immediately following the funeral. Memorial contributions may be given to the Jobs Daughters Scholarship Foundation or the Speedway Masonic Lodge.
