John P. "Jack" Holton
Passed away in the early morning hours of September 2, 2012 surrounded by his wife and two sons.
A life-long resident of Indianapolis, Jack was a graduate of the Park School and DePauw University, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the military and served in the United States Army. Upon returning from military service Jack worked in marketing for Anderson Box Company and in international business development for Rocco, a corporation based in Denmark. He was later employed by Paine Webber and Smith Barney, and retired from UBS Warburg as Account Vice President. He also had a successful career in breeding and raising horses for harness racing and raced several of his own horses.
Jack was a loving husband and father, a loyal and generous friend, and a staunch defender of the things in which he deeply believed. He was a long-time member of Meridian Hills Country Club, past-President and Director of the Indiana Standardbred Association, an official for the United States Golf Association and member of the U.S. Trotting Association.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John Presley Holton, Sr. and Lois (Lamont) Holton and is survived by his wife Jan and two sons, John P. Holton III and Christopher Reed Holton; four grandsons (John P. "Jack" Holton IV, Charles Reed, Lucas James and Brady Christopher), and two brothers, Bill (Sherry) and Jim (Debbie).
Services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan - Carmel , with visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6th, and funeral service for family and close friends at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7th.
