John O. Harris

John O. Harris, 87 of Indianapolis, passed away March 17, 2011. He was born March 22, 1923 in Lawrence Co.,IN the son of Arlie E. and Hattie Mae (Lechner)Harris, both whom have preceded him in death. Also John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Helen Louise (Stapp)Harris. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. Also he was a member of the American Legion, and Faith United Methodist Church. John was a heavy equipment operator for Citizens Gas, retiring in 1984. He is survived by children, Nancy (Jim)Sprecher, Stephen Harris; grandchildren, Shawn Rafferty, Kevin (Allyson)Rafferty, Jeffrey (Shelly)Harris, Jennifer (Chris)Harris Pearson, Sandra (Mick)Harris Bird; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Mae (Dorsett)Baer. Visitation will be Tuesday (3-22-11) from 4 to 8pm in Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East Funeral Center. Funeral services will be Wednesday (3-23-11) 10am in the funeral center.
