Dr. John M. Moore
86, Indianapolis, passed away October 7, 2014. John was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 15, 1928 and raised by his parents, Wesley Bolen and Mildred (Bennett) Moore and his grandparents Carrie and Mansfield Bennett. He graduated from Madison High School in Madison, IN. John served his country in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a doctor during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Hanover College and Indiana University where he earned his medical degree and did his residency. During his career, John was an ObGyn at Howard Community Hospital in Kokomo for 32 years, retiring in 1995.
John was a kind, gentle and loving man who adored his wife and family. He enjoyed traveling, sailing and just being with the ones he loved. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor (Anderson) Moore; children: Peggy Hunt (Randy), Kathy McCain (Paul), Mike Moore (Mary) and Beth Miller (Mike); grandchildren: Scott Hunt, Amy Allard (Dustin), Eric Hunt (Jenni), Shaun Ray (Meagan), Cole McCain, Ian Moore, and Amelia, Natalie and Katrina Miller; great-grandchildren: Xander Hunt and Caleb Golbsy-Ray, Gabrial and Liam Ray; and his siblings: Marilyn Teeple and Judy.
He was preceeded in death by his siblings, Edyth and David of Cleveland, OH.
Private graveside services will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
