John Michael Panagiotis went to be with his Savior in heaven on January 15, 2021. John was born in Pittsburgh, PA, April 26, 1937. He was baptized into Christ at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Divine Savior Lutheran Church, Indianapolis, IN on May 18, 1986.
John was united in marriage to Marion Schindler on October 21, 1961 at St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church in Kawkawlin, MI. The Lord blessed John and Marion with 59 wonderful years of marriage.
John served in the Air Force Reserve six and a half years. He enjoyed playing tennis and later moved to the pickleball courts. John worked in the travel industry for about 40 years. Later, he transitioned into real estate as a licensed agent.
John was very active with Marion in their congregational lives. As members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Carmel, John was instrumental in finding land and leading the new congregation of Bethlehem in its early growth.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marion; sister, Diana Rempas of Chicago; Brother-in-law and sister-in- law, Curt and Jan Berger, Bay City, MI; sisters- in- law Carol Hardy, Bay City, MI and Loretta Schindler, Kawkawlin, MI.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Evans and Jenny Pappaminas.
