John Michael Jones, 77, of New Palestine passed away on May 26, 2021. John was born on May 4, 1944 to Wilburn E. and Josephine Jones. John was a 37-year employee of

Citizens Energy Group until retiring in 2001. John honorably served in the United States Army, spending the majority of his service in Germany, where he met and married his wife Gisela.

John was a lifelong Scouter and influenced the lives of countless Scouts, Scouters and Friends of Scouting and was awarded Crossroads of America’s highest honor of Silver Beaver.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed classical music.

John is preceded in death by both his parents and sister Beverly Parker.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years Gisela; his sons, Markus (Heather and children Astrid and Karsten) and Kristopher (Darlene and child Katie), sister Saundra (Michael) Clark, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church 8540 E.16th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46219 on October 30th from 1:00-1:30PM with a fellowship gathering immediately following the service and ending at 4:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, or his grandchildren’s Scout packs: Pack 41 at Trinity Lutheran Church or Pack 243 at Eden United Methodist church.
