John M. Fetter, 86, passed on Aug 5, 2014. Services will be held at Flanner & Buchanan, Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd. Visitation: Fri, 8/8 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm & Sat, 8/9 @ 10 am. Funeral: Sat, 8/9 at 11:00 am.
John was born March 3, 1928, in Fort Wayne, IN to John Mathias & Dorothy Harriett (Schmidt) Fetter. He married Martha Lavone (Lowry) on April 6, 1947 in Rosedale, IN. John owned Midwest Diesel & Truck Service & Spill Recovery of Indiana both located in Clermont, IN. He retired from both businesses in 1998.
John was a member of the following organizations; Lynhurst Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Scottish Rite Orchestra, Murat Shrine Director's Staff, founding member & past president of the Murat Shrine Clowns, Murat Circus Band, past president of Murat Railroad Club & a member of ROJ15. Hillbillies & the Hillbilly Band & Bakers Dozens. He was involved in the restoration & operation of NKP587. Member of the Indiana Transportation Museum, White Water Valley Railroad Club, Hoosier Rail Cars, NARCOA & Great Lakes Rail Cars. Member & past president of the Clermont Lions Club & the Indiana State Lions Club Band. Member of the Sahara Grotto's Drum & Bugle Corp. Spill Control Assoc of America Board of Directors, Indiana Haz Mat Conference Founder. Indiana Forum for Environmental Safety Board of Directors, Emeritus.
In memory donations may be made to the Indiana Transportation Museum or the Murat Shrine Transportation Fund.
John leaves behind three daughters (the 3 D's); Debra (John) Sims, Diana Ludwig and Darlene (Michael) Rose. Grandchildren Jenni (Brad) Kelley, John (Brittany) Sims, Bethany Ludwig, Jessica Moore and Michael P. J. Rose and 11 great grandchildren. His brother Francis (Shirley) Fetter & sister Donna (Larry) Sankey. John also leaves behind a very dear friend & heartfelt companion Virginia Weston & her three lovely daughters; Peggy (Roger) Kumler, Nancy (Frank) Zavada & Sue (Ron) Logan.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Kraus and his staff for all of the assistance they gave John & the family. We would also like to thank Joanna, Kimberly and Lakrytia from Sr. Helpers for their dedicated service to John.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Lavone (Lowry) Fetter and his parents.
