John L. Searight

John L. Searight, M.D., age 81, of Indianapolis, passed away November 5, 2011. He was born on November 23, 1929 in Cass Co., IN to William and Janet Searight. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn(Coleman) Searight; four children: Michael J.(Trish) Searight, Susan S.(David) Hansen, Sally A.(Bob) Searight-Smith, and Sandra(Hal) Page; 11 grandchildren: Meghan, Drew, and Madeline Searight; Emeline, Christopher, Matthew, and Jacob Hansen; Olivia, Abigail, Isaac, and Coleman Page; one sister: Ellen (Don) Coles, and nieces and nephews: Richard(Cindy) Durand, Chris, Betsy, Ken(Priscilla), and Janet Coles. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Ave., Indianapolis. Visitation will be held at Irvington Presbyterian Church on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 4-7 PM. Burial will be private. Dr. Searight graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Agriculture and graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1962. He started a family practice in 1963 on the east side of Indianapolis, retiring in 1995. John was also the doctor for the Marion County Children's Guardian Home for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed many years of overseeing farm activities at the Coleman farm in Parke County. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Irvington Presbyterian Church. Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
